Sharp Tailed Snake

We found this snake yesterday under some leaves. According to some Google searching, it is called a "Sharp Tailed Snake". It eats slugs and is harmless to humans. Slug eating snakes! Hooray! E just found a slug on a piece of orange peel under the orange tree yesterday. Snake bait.

Good morning deer!

When I woke up this morning and looked out the window I saw a family of deer munching on the weeds in our yard. I love how soft and velvety the antlers look!

Wild turkey family at Love Apple Farm

We see this band of 5 wild turkeys frequently on the grassy hill at the top of the farm. Today I took the telescoping lens & Canon EOS camera and stopped to photograph them on my way to work. One of them limps, we don't know if an animal hurt him, or his foot was caught in a trap.

Chickadees

I spent much of my Mother's Day morning with a pair of binoculars watching the pair of nesting chickadees fly to-and-fro from the hole in our house's wall. Apparently they have a nest in there! I ran in and got the telescoping camera and got some pictures of them flying in and out. They seemed to be bringing insects home to their babies.

Lemonade, plants

Yesterday after swimming, S&I came to play with J&E. I got each kid to pick a couple lemons and we made lemonade. It tasted great! We also hiked down the hill past the redwoods, calla lilies, and madrone trees which have a very interesting smooth bark.

Tomato plants at Love Apple Farm

The new location of Love Apple is slowly getting set up. When I came home one day this week I found a whole bunch of tomato plants lining the top of the dog run.

My previous post was truncated. I meant to say "I was greeted by wild turkeys on my way home today". One of the turkeys is limping. :(

Pizza oven and other farm pics

We used the pizza oven for the first time for C's birthday party on Monday. The trick is to let the fire burn for a couple hours before you start cooking. Our back door, patio, and looking up the hill from our house (orange trees).

Sunny pictures from California

You can just see the Shasta Daisies starting to bloom (white specks in landscaping) in this picture I took out the window at work. The second picture shows a map of the world with the sun's shadow on it. It's my favorite clock in the office. The hamsters - who doesn't like hamsters?

For you, Penny! (in response to your snowy May 4 pictures)
